As we near the end of a very successful 2017, we wanted to reflect on one of its many highlights; our attendance at the October Dell IQT Day and EMC Forum in New York.
IMS Evolve was invited to the IQT Day for the unveiling of Dell’s newest IoT vision and strategy, where Michael Dell himself revealed an investment of $1billion over the next three years into new IoT products, solutions and labs, as well as into the Dell IoT Solutions Partner Program – of which IMS Evolve is a member. It was inspiring to hear about the plans for the future and how we can work with Dell on its strategy to move IoT towards ‘IQT’: the Intelligent Internet of Things.
Leading the new IoT Division is VMware CTO Ray O’Farrell, who plans to leverage strength from across all of Dell Technologies’ family of businesses, in combination with Dell partners.
Influencers and businesses from all over the world attended the talk, and our CCO, Jason Kay, spoke with a number of journalists following the announcement, regarding the IMS Evolve solution and how it can help drive innovation in partnership with Dell.
The following day, Dell held its EMC Forum event, a technology networking experience involving representatives and stands from different sectors; allowing companies to discover strategies, gain insights and explore solutions that drive IT innovation, enhance workforce mobility and reduce risk in the digital era. Our presence on the IoT stand provided us with an invaluable opportunity to discuss the IMS Evolve solution and Dell hardware with Dell Account Managers, customers and industry specialists.
As a Dell IoT Solutions Partner, our CCO, Jason Kay, led a presentation to industry analysts discussing how IoT can be utilised within the cold chain, providing a customer/partner perspective on working with Dell, while addressing the efficiencies that can be unlocked with the IMS Evolve solution.
The UN has predicted that a global food crisis will be upon us by 2050, but if organisations utilise IoT deployments within the supply chain, IoT holds the potential to massively reduce wastage of both food and energy, while improving produce quality. IMS Evolve offers this capability by leveraging data from existing infrastructure through an integrated, intelligent IoT software layer, which is deployed onto the Dell Edge Gateway.
