With over 7 years' experience in the field, Engineering Team Leader, Antony 'Maz' Marriott discusses his role in our latest
After joining IMS Evolve in September 2011 as a Field Engineer, Antony was promoted to Engineering Team Leader just 18 months later and has thrived in the role ever since.
The Field Engineers at IMS are responsible for responding to work orders, both proxy and telemetry, that are generated when an asset within a monitored environment has lost communication. This is a service we provide for one of our long-standing customers with an estate of over 2,000 retail stores.
‘Our job is to efficiently restore communication to and from the device, taking a proactive approach to quickly resolve any issues in order to eradicate stock loss and ensure safety standards are continually met, all to the benefit of the customer.’
Antony is responsible for the management and day-to-day running of the highly skilled and trained team of engineers.
‘The team of Engineers and I are always on hand to support each other, which can range from technical support, assistance with locating defecting assets, or as a companion by phone for a long journey to a job.’
‘As well as team management and ensuring I am available should any of the engineers require further assistance on site, I also attend to work orders myself, and the team and I often find ourselves needing to contact the experienced team within our Milton Keynes based Head Office to request assistance on various queries, to further ensure any issues are resolved and the job is completed to the best of our ability.’
The values that IMS Evolve strive to achieve provides Antony with the freedom needed to engage effectively and maximise productivity in his role. Antony is also fully engaged with the organisation’s core business purpose and has worked to integrate this into his position and instil this throughout the team.
‘I value the level of trust I am given in my role here at IMS; a large amount of my time is spent out on the road and without this confidence, my job would be significantly more challenging. Meeting new people, both in the field and within the office, makes every day different and is without doubt one of the best things about being an Engineering Team Leader.’
With a 2-year-old son, Antony makes the most of his time outside of work.
‘My son absolutely loves swimming, and any spare time is spent with my family. I also enjoy watching different sports, as well as the social side that goes alongside any playing I manage to find time for!’
